Bridal inspiration & an evening with Caroline Castigliano – planning your wedding day
Being a wedding makeup artist in the industry (from Philippa Louise Makeup) and a past bride, I know how overwhelming planning a wedding can be and so can sympathise. What dress suits me? What wedding flowers should I choose? How do I know how to have my hair and makeup? Should I make the invites myself or hire an expert? What about my bridesmaids… These are only a few of the questions you may be asking yourself.
Thanks to Caroline Castigliano for putting this wonderful luxurious event on. An event not to be missed bringing in her favourite wedding industry partners for a glamorous networking evening of bridal inspiration!
The wedding industry has exploded over the years with suppliers which is incredible for the wedding industry however is too overwhelming for the newly engaged bride who has never been exposed to any of this information before. Lucky for me being a makeup artist in this industry made planning my wedding easier, however it is still a full time job in itself. There are wedding shows you can attend which are all wonderful but again you are totally overwhelmed with so much information that it can (for some), make what should be an exciting time seem rather stressful with the amount of choice out there.
“To design and be part of the most important day in a woman’s life is very special and I am honoured to have been able to take this role in so many brides lives. I love making a woman feel and look the most fabulous she ever has in her life” – Caroline Castigliano
This is exactly what I tell my brides to be – makeup should never wear you and you want to feel and look like the most fabulous versions of yourself.
If I could have the opportunity to wear a wedding dress again – Caroline Castigliano would be in my top 10 and first on my list! Caroline Cartigliano is all about quality, luxury and understated glamour. Caroline is a British wedding dress designer and designs some of the most exquisite show-stopping gowns I have ever seen (which are all made in the UK). From the moment I walked into her beautiful Knightsbridge boutique, I knew that a bride really couldn’t leave without finding her dream dress. I was greeted by Cecilia (marketing manager) the minute I set foot in the door and who always made sure I was ok. The ambience at the Knightsbridge boutique is calm, the dresses beautifully displayed, two huge mirrors at the back with the perfect lighting to see your reflection in the mirror and some rather comfortable sofas for friends and family to sit down on sipping champagne whilst you have your fitting. The fabrics, the cut, the sheer detail of a Castigliano gown is too beautiful for words, with the foundation of the gown “created using unique corsetry and undergarment techniques to sculpt and enhance the female figure.” Is it bad to announce that I would now like another wedding just to treat myself to one of Caroline’s dreamy dresses? (eeeeeek). To book your appointment please contact Caroline Castigliano here.
Caroline also caters for stunning evening wear so the entire bridal party can treat themselves under one roof.
How is your dress made?
Bobbi Brown bridal makeup:
Of course, the part I am sure most of you have been eagerly waiting to hear about – the makeup. Bridal Beauty wedding makeup by Bobbi Brown has a reputation for creating looks that embody how, I believe, makeup should be worn . Effortless, timeless and a look which makes you feel like the most fabulous version of yourself. If it’s fit for a princess it’s fit for anyone.
I have been fortunate enough to work for the brand so I know that if you were to book yourself a Bobbi experience at any of the counters anywhere in the world you will be left feeling confident and very happy. I interviewed one of their featured in store artists Molly Jane about her must have products for the wedding day and this is what she had to say:
Summary of what makeup was used (links below):
- Hydrating Face Tonic
- Vitamin Enriched Face Base
- Hydrating Eye Cream
- Instant Full Cover Concealer
- Skin Foundation Stick
- Sheer Pressed powder
- Retouching Powder for touch ups
- Bronzing powder
- Pot Rouge in Powder Pink
- Highlighter in Afternoon Glow
- Long-wear cream Shadow Sticks
- Luxe Eyeshadows in Moonstone and Melting Point
- Gel Liner
- Smokey Eye mascara and coated with No Smudge Mascara to keep it waterproof
Make sure you do your research into who you book for your wedding day. I would advise choosing an artist who specialises in bridal makeup and who you trust. Ensure they know about lighting and photography and flashback – this is so important for the photos. For more advice please don’t hesitate to contact a Bobbi Brown counter or feel free to contact me at http://www.philippalouisemakeup.co.uk

The ring – Neil Duttson from Dutton Rocks
Diamonds are ALWAYS a girl’s best friend. Neil Duttson is a ‘leading diamond and jewellery authority offering clients a personalised bespoke gem buying service.’ It was hard not to eye up some of Neil’s beautiful collection. Even though I am married myself I always enjoy perusing at sparkly diamonds – or even try them on – I mean who doesn’t? To contact Duttson Rocks please click here.
Not only does Neil offer this service you can also ensure your bridesmaid’s are looked after with his stunning Ready to Wear Collection in ‘Shades of Summer’ and ‘Equinox.’ There are stacking rings and beautiful bracelets to treat them to (or yourself) along with a larger range that you can see on his website. I have already added these to my Christmas list!
Your hair for your wedding really is so important. I always ask any of my brides how they are having their hair before I even start designing their makeup. Hair styles can alter an entire look, so make sure you do your research and have a few trials in order to achieve the exact look you want. I would advise having your trial as soon as you have found your dress and your head piece (if you are wearing one), that way this gives the hair stylist a clear idea of the feel for the wedding and what would compliment the dress. Christiano from Richard Ward hair was responsible for the fabulous hair at the event. Not only is he a lovely person he is an extremely talented stylist and you know you would be in wonderful hands. He wanted to create an effortless and dreamy feel to the hair style to compliment the beautiful wedding gowns. Below you can see him in action! You can book an appointment with Christiano by calling the Richard Ward Hair salon
‘We believe your wedding stationery should be every bit as special as the day itself. That is why we put so much care into our designs.’ – Leeming Brothers
I had the pleasure of meeting Lewis when I was exhibiting at The Luxury Wedding Fair 2017, so when I saw he was at Caroline’s event I was delighted ! You will not be disappointed. The luxurious feel to all the wedding stationary far exceeds all expectation. This really is fine stationary for all your needs. Contact Leeming Brothers here for more information.
Who doesn’t enjoy an opportunity to sample champagne for their wedding day? I certainly didn’t know this was an option. Five years ago I sat down at my wedding meal tasting and got given a bottle of Champagne and no choice (perhaps that was due to the fact that the alcohol bill wasn’t coming from my pocket)?
Either way knowing a company to go to who offer a prestige champagne tasting experience (and wine of course) is a wonderful experience to be had by everyone. I would totally take my bridesmaids to this!
Paula Rooney – Wedding Flowers
I remember when it came to choosing my wedding flowers, I just didn’t know who to turn to – there are plenty option out there ladies however you have to do your research. Paula’s style is quite simply equisite ! Having a meeting is crucial to get to know one another. Paula even offers a free 30minutes Skype or telephone floral design consultation which can be booked directly through her website here. It’s like anything, as soon as you meet or speak with your supplier you build a relationship with them immediately.
‘For me, there is nothing more special than the relationship between myself and the bride that builds throughout their wedding journey. From our first meeting to the joy I see on their wedding day and beyond. PAULA ROONEY ’17
The best part right? You get to eat cake…. and a lot of it! You go on a journey from start to finish and that is what is so wonderful about wedding cakes by Yevnig. Although I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Yevnig for our wedding, I do remember the wedding cake tasting day like it was yesterday. I was sitting at home waiting for the door bell to ring. Our wedding cake (well our cup cake tower) was brought to us and presented ready to tuck into. Do we eat all of them or are we supposed to sample? Of course she said and she left us with 2 massive boxes of cupcakes (cue when does the diet start?). This really was one of my favourite parts – the decision was made with my husband and my husband only – no-one else to interfere in my cake decisions! Unique Cakes by Yevnig are quite simply a work of art. Too pretty to eat…but then again, too tasty not to. For more information please contact Yevnig here.
As if a wedding wasn’t stressful enough!! Then you have to (well you do don’t you?) go and book a trip of a lifetime and pretend for a week that you are living the high life??
Mini-moon? HoneyMoon? Darling treat yourself you only get married once and why not do both (if you can). I really enjoyed visiting the South of France for our mini-moon – putting our feet up for 5 days and doing nothing! The mini-moon got us warmed up for our adventure of a lifetime sailing around the Philippines. I would though say that if I was to do it again I would have booked through Scott Dunn – it would have taken the stress out of everything.
‘A honeymoon should be unforgettable, whether it’s a week in the lap of luxury on a private island, or an epic adventure of discovery. We can tailor-make almost anything you want.’ – Scott Dunn
